this one took 25 minutes to plant. there were a number of great exhibitions, with very specific subject matter which didn’t feel appropriate to interject into. The Realism Re-examined exhibit would have been good but the room was very small, the collection was more specific than i can coney, and it was free night at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia so it was fairly busy. there was a room with some Group of 7 art with one spot empty saying “removed from collection” and i really wanted to plant it there, my vulgar nonsense next to the saints of canadiana. but again, people.
this exhibit deals with the city redefined, and urban architecture is a major focus of my stuff. it seemed like a good fit, as it’s a glitched picture of the armouries, and this room is military city stuff.
in those 25 minutes tho, it became very clear to me the power of the curator, even over a specific artist. and also, how much of the production of the art is the artist responsible for, vs how much is designed/built/managed by museum staff. anyway i bought to postcards on the way out.
also what’s the economic drift on ths project? in calgary this cost me about 40 bucks to pull off, this halifax anti-heist cost less than ten dollars.
