I tried to databend some pictures into sounds, but I wasn’t able to get functional images out the other end of the process. So instead I took a look in the other direction, and see how filters change the sounds of a re-encoded image.
Here’s the original image:
and here’s what it sounds like:
If you make some adjustments and drop it to black and white, you get this image:
The difference is both visual and aural:
Audibly different, and longer for some reason. Next time I take a crack at this I’ll figure out how to export a working image.
